{"id":1883,"date":"2024-03-09T16:24:33","date_gmt":"2024-03-09T15:24:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ocarinafestival.org\/eventi\/ocarine-dal-mondo\/"},"modified":"2025-01-23T14:17:54","modified_gmt":"2025-01-23T13:17:54","slug":"ocarine-dal-mondo","status":"publish","type":"entroevents","link":"https:\/\/ocarinafestival.org\/en\/eventi\/ocarine-dal-mondo\/","title":{"rendered":"Ocarinas from the World"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-bootstrap-blocks-container container mb-2\">\n\t\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group page-section is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading page-title\">The event<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"page-text wp-block-paragraph\">From China to Korea and the United States, the sound of the ocarina has captivated and inspired countless musicians and ensembles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this special evening at the Consortium Theater, we have the privilege of listening to some of the world\u2019s finest artists, who have brought the profound poetry of the Budriese instrument to life with remarkable variety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their fascinating and unexpected performances are a testament to the ocarina\u2019s enduring power to bridge worlds, cultures, and people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jingya LIu<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Born in China and now based in the USA, Jingya Liu is one of the first Chinese ocarinists, performing since 2007. She has dedicated herself to promoting Chinese musical culture and has performed at numerous international events since 2010. For 12 years, she served as the Executive Director of the Chinese Ocarina Art Society. Currently, Ms. Liu is a board member of the Washington Chinese Traditional Orchestra and a prominent musical artist in the Washington, DC area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Program:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Trails of the Angels<\/em> original flute and piano composition by Yue Chen and Ke Ma <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Fade Away<\/em> created by Jay Chou <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Variations on Merry Go Ground of Life<\/em> compote by Joe Hisaishi <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Korean Ocarina SEPTET Ensemble<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Program:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Voices of Spring<\/em>, Johann Strauss \u2161<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Military Polonaise<\/em>, in A-major, op.40-1, Chopin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>The Whistler and his dog<\/em>, Pryor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Soundtrack of &#8220;Pirate of Caribbean&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Trisch Tratsch Polka<\/em>, Johann Strauss II<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steven Higbee<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Steven Higbee is a multi-instrumentalist specializing in wind instruments. He has performed a wide variety of music, including classical, jazz, video game scores, and film music. Since 2018, he has collaborated with hundreds of musicians online, recording singles, albums, and even video game soundtracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Steven&#8217;s journey with the ocarina began in 2015, following an unexpected discovery on YouTube. Soon after, he founded Ocabanda, the first ocarina septet in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After performing with the group, Steven continued to refine his ocarina skills, mastering more complex pieces and expanding his ability to arrange and compose for the instrument.
